In New Albany, we celebrate the 4th on the 3rd, with an Independence Day Riverfront Celebration, meaning there’ll be fireworks and musical performances On Thursday, July 3 at the Riverfront Amphitheater, which is located downtown at the foot of Pearl Street.
For the third year in a row, the popular band Louisville Crashers will be playing. It’s a family friendly event, and there’ll be an NABC beer concession. Gates open at 5 p.m., and opening acts start playing early. Last call will be just before the show ends, or whenever we feel like stopping. Only because we must, mass market beer will be available, but for those wishing to purchase genuine American draft beer of the most meaningfully local and patriotic sort, there’ll be Action! APA, Community Dark, Houndmouth and Tafel.
Note that the Bicentennial Park Summer Concert Series will not occur on Friday, July 4, to return on the 11th. On Friday, July 4, Bank Street Brewhouse will be open from noon to 8:00 p.m. but the Pizzeria & Public House will take the holiday and reopen Saturday, July 5 for normal hours.
